Get Down With the Get Down 002

Julio Bashmore is definitely the most talented producer that is out right now.  His new BBC1 Essential Mix is a fresh take on old school Chicago House and more recent tunes influenced by the same guys.

The Hundreds covers a great collection of art pieces by Seattle artist Michael Levitt.  He recreates a host of contemporary artists as figurines.  Dope stuff.

James Blake is the prince of mellow dubstep right now.  He has an interesting interview in the Boston Phoenix, where he takes aim at some of the heavier dubstep acts- most likely, Skrillex.  Although I agree in principle, there is space for both types of artists.

–Rest in Peace, Sylvia Robinson.  I posted about her a few months back here.

–Great interview from the legend, DJ Sneak, one of the dopest and most influential house music creators of all time.  Scroll down for the English version.  Here’s a great mix live in Ibiza that is either from DJ Sneak or Daft Punk- no one is quite clear (they played the same night)- but it’s dope!

–My friend Sasha is town from New York to help organize the PULSE Contemporary Art Fair this weekend in Downtown Los Angeles.  I will be in attendance, it looks amazing!  Support the arts.
